Relaxed atmosphere in this well-run tiny pub-restaurant with excellent food, the best "Guinness" in town, a clever and everchanging list of belgian beers and a large range of rare aged whiskies. They regurarly host my presentations of craft-beers often coming from Belgium and sometimes from other beer countries.

Founded in 1996 is the first and still the best brewpub in Milano.

The father of two of the brewers is professor of the Faculty of Agriculture in the nearby University. They brew only top-fermented beers: the pale and hoppy Kölsch style Montestella, 5.6%; the deep amber roasty Lambrate, 7%; the pale and strong Sant’Ambroeus, 7%, the red caramel-tasting Porpora, 6% and the black smoked Ghisa, 6%. There is also a seasonal golden strong "honeysh" Brighella, about 8% brewed for Christmas and the "new entry" thirst-quenching Meneghina brewed also with unmalted grains like rye and spelt. The pub is always crowded of young people. Cheeses, charcuteries and other good snacks are always available. Not to be missed the "happy hour" with many free appetizers from 6 to 8 p.m.

Wonderful brewpub, founded in Lurago Marinone between Milano and Como, not far from the Swiss border. Highrate excellent food based on traditional recipes from different regions. Live music (jazz, blues, pop) on thursday. All their products are unfiltered and unpasteurized. They brew four regular bottom-fermented beers: the charming hoppy, dry and drinkable Tipopils, 5.2%; the brown fresh-caramel tasting Prima, 6%; an orange full-body bock with delicious apricot-aroma called Bibock, 6.2%; a "new style" strong amber fruity Amber Shock, 7% directly lagered in the bottle. Other seasonal beers are the hoppiest light Extra Hop, 4.8%; the black roasty-liquorice Negra, 6.5% ; two top-fermented wheat beers called B.I.Weizen, 5% (light with banana aroma) and Vùdù (abbreviation for Weizen Dunkel), 5.5% (dark with a rich taste of toffee and dried fruit). A new dark brew rich in fruity and with lovely peppery bitter notes called 2000, 6% is born to celebrate the end of the millenium.

One of the main goals of the owner of this brewpub is to promote beer-culture: every year I have the honour to lead a course for beginners and experienced consumers. This course is divided into four sessions.

Fist session: brewery visit, ingredients and brewing process; second session: history of beer through the centuries, introduction to the different styles, third session: tutored tastings of italian craft beers; fourth session: tutored tastings of foreign craft beers.
